Overview of Procedures for Accessing the TGT web site
The TGT web site utilizes University of Pittsburgh Health Science's HSConnect accounts. Even if you are not familiar with the term HSConnect, you've probably used an HSConnect account. These accounts are used for many applications within the University of Pittsburgh Schools of the Health Sciences such as the Conflict of Interest Superform and the Research Practice Fundamentals modules. If you've utilized either of these online applications in the past, you already have an HSConnect username and password. If you do not have an HSConnect account, you'll need to create one. Once you have an HSConnect account, you'll need to be granted access to the TGT web site by way of your employment classification (once verified via the 'matching process') or by being sponsored by a Health Sciences faculty member.
- Attain an HSConnect Account
HSConnect accounts are managed by the iTarget Team within the Schools of the Health Sciences, and serve as a single account to access administrative, educational and research oriented resources within the Schools of the Health Sciences. If you do not already have an HSConnect account, please sign up for one by choosing the 'Create Account' option from the HSConnect account site.
- Complete the Matching Process
Some employees are eligible for access to the TGT web site automatically, based on their University of Pittsburgh employment classification. In order for this to occur, the employee must first match their HSConnect account to their University of Pittsburgh employment profile to establish their employment status. This requires the user log into the HSConnect Account Administration page and answer several questions in order to verify their identity, thereby validating the HSConnect account. For detailed instructions on how to connect your profile to Pitt-Profile, please view 'How can I connect my profile to the Pitt-Profile' in the HSC FAQ.
Account holders in the following units will be automatically granted access to the restricted TGT site after they complete their Pitt Profile match:

- Faculty Sponsorship of Accounts for Access to the TGT Web Site
Employees who are not in one of the employment categories that are granted automatic access must be sponsored by a faculty member (not a staff member) of one of the schools/departments listed above. The sponsorship must be requested by a faculty member who has access to the TGT and DLAR web sites (Both the DLAR and TGT websites utilize the same security model). That sponsoring faculty member will log into the DLAR web site and choose 'Website Access Sponsorship Form' from the Quick Links menu. To prevent any delays when asking a faculty member for sponsorship, please provide them with your HSConnect account ID, full name and department. The faculty members will be able to sponsor your account for 3-12 months. After that time, the account sponsorship will have to be renewed. We anticipate emails going out to those expiring accounts approximately 30 days before they expire in order to allow time for renewal.
